Contribution to the study of Himatanthus sucuuba: latex macromolecule, microelements and carbohydrates Acta Amazonica
SILVA,Jefferson Rocha de A.; AMARAL,Ana Claudia F.; SIANI,Antonio C.; REZENDE,Claudia M.; FELCMAN,Judith; PINTO,Angelo C..
The polymeric material in the latex of Himatanthus sucuuba (Spruce) Woodson was identified by spectroscopic methods as cis-polyisoprene (Mn = 192; Mw = 571; Mw/ Mn = 2.97). ICP-MS analysis of microelements in the aqueous phase showed the most abundant to be Ca (354 μg/g) and Mg (250 μg/g). Carbohydrate analysis of the aqueous phase by HPLC-PAD showed arabinose, glucose, xylose, rhamnose and galactose to be the predominant saccharides.

Elemental contents in exotic Brazilian tropical fruits evaluated by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence Scientia Agricola
Oliveira,Alessandra Lopes de; Almeida,Eduardo de; Silva,Fernanda Bevilácqua Rodrigues da; Nascimento Filho,Virgílio Franco.
The exotic flavor of Brazilian tropical fruits led to increased consumption. Consumers awareness regarding balanced diets, makes necessary determining nutritional composition - vitamins and minerals of the fruits ordinarily consumed. This study contributed to the evaluation of macro (K, Ca) and microelements (Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn and Br) in eight exotic Brazilian tropical fruits: "abiu" (Lucuma caimito Ruiz & Pav.), "jenipapo" (Genipa americana L.), "jambo rosa" (rose apple, Eugenia Jambos L.), "jambo vermelho" (Syzygium malaccence L., Merr & Perry), "macaúba" (Acrocomia aculeata Jacq. Lood. Ex Mart.), "mangaba" (Hancornia speciosa), "pitanga" (Brazilian Cherry, Eugenia uniflora L.), and tamarind (Tamarindus indica L.), using the Energy...

The nutrient accumulation pattern and cycling in natural secondary forests in North China: A case study from the Caijiachuan watershed, Shanxi Province Phyton
Wei,TX; Zhang,XJ.
In order to examine the nutrient content, and the distribution and accumulation patterns of individual nutrients in the natural secondary forests (NSFs), sample NSF plots were selected in the Caijiachuan watershed on the Loess Plateau. On the basis of a comprehensive field inventory to the NSFs in Caijiachuan watershed, a 40 m × 40 m sample plot was selected as the representative plot. Each tree plant was then measured to select the standard tree in accordance with a diameter-scale. For measurement of the biomass in the above-ground part of the tree, it was divided into parts and measured. The study measured the concentration of the 5 major macronutrients (namely N, P, K, Ca and Mg) and the 8 major micronutrients (namely Cd, Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Pb, Ni and B)...

The nutritional value of leaves of selected berry species Scientia Agricola
Biel,Wioletta; Jaroszewska,Anna.
ABSTRACT: Although the medicinal properties of berry fruit are well known, there is relatively little information available concerning the applications of other parts of berry plants. Thus, in this study we determined the nutritional value of the leaves of selected berry species and their possible application in health promoting diets. The levels of nutrients, and macro- and microelements in the leaves of four species collected from allotment gardens in the city of Szczecin, Poland (53°26′17″ N, 14°32′32″ E; altitude 7 m a.s.l.) were identified: raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.), blackberry (Rubus fruticosus L.), chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa L.), and sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides L.). Sea buckthorn leaves were the richest source of protein, raspberry...
